Summary
Voyager comes across a previously unseen phenomena in space, and Tom becomes trapped inside it. The Doctor attempts to experience a home life by creating a holographic family. B’ellana helps him make them more real after meeting them and seeing they are far too perfect.
Our Take
A strange mixed bag that mostly works thanks to Robert Picardo, who gives the Doctor’s domestic experiment real emotional weight. The subplot with Tom and the space anomaly feels like filler and takes time away from the stronger story. The final act lands harder than you’d expect, even if the holodeck family stuff edges toward sentimental. Worth a watch for Picardo fans alone.
