Episode Summary & Review
Summary
When Voyager’s crew encounters a swarm of strange alien lifeforms in space, the aliens start forming what seems to be a attachment to Voyager. Meanwhile the encounter seems to accelerate Kes’s reproductive cycle that comes only once in her species lifetime.
Our Take
A mixed hour that works better as a character piece than as sci-fi. The alien swarm plot is thin and mostly an excuse to trigger Kes’s story, but Jennifer Lien and Ethan Phillips give the pregnancy material real weight, and Neelix’s panic about fatherhood is surprisingly relatable. Some of the shipboard romance subplots drag. Worth watching for Kes fans, skippable otherwise.
