Episode Summary & Review
Summary
On their way to Ferenginar, Jake and Nog’s runabout comes under attack from the Jem’Hadar, and they are rescued by the Valiant, a ship manned by an elite group of overly eager Starfleet cadets who have bitten off more than they can chew.
Our Take
A solid bottle episode carried almost entirely by guest actors, which is both its strength and its limit. The cadet crew’s slow reveal of dysfunction works well, and Nog’s arc gives it real weight, though the young captain tips into caricature by the end. Jake being the voice of reason is a nice touch. Worth watching, even if it feels a bit like a lost episode of a different show.
