Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Dr. Bashir works with an eccentric group of genetically engineered humans in the hopes they can become productive members of the Federation. Meanwhile, the Dominion arrives on DS9 offering to negotiate a truce with the Federation.
Our Take
A talky but engaging hour that gives Bashir some real moral friction. The genetically engineered misfits are fun at first, though the comedic quirks wear thin once the episode shifts into war-game territory. The ending’s pessimism lands hard and gives the Dominion arc some weight. Worth watching for the ideas, even if the pacing sags in the middle.
