Episode Summary & Review
Summary
On the eve of Bajor’s entry into the Federation, Sisko begins experiencing visions that lead him to ruins of the lost Bajoran city of B’hala. However, when the visions that are guiding him become potentially fatal, Sisko must choose between his faith in the Prophets or his life.
Our Take
This is one of DS9’s more interesting religious episodes, with Avery Brooks going big on the mystical visions and mostly pulling it off. The B-plot about Bajor’s Federation membership gives the story real stakes. It drags a bit in the middle and the imagery gets repetitive, but the ending lands with genuine weight. Worth watching for the character development alone.
