Summary
After a transporter malfunction aboard the Defiant, Sisko, Bashir, and Dax find themselves thrown back three hundred years into Earth’s dark past without any means of getting home.
Our Take
This is a tense, grounded hour that trades space action for social commentary, and it mostly lands. Sisko and Bashir’s storyline carries real weight, with the Sanctuary District setup feeling uncomfortably plausible, while Dax gets stuck in a fluffier subplot that drags by comparison. The cliffhanger ending earns its tension. Worth your time, especially since part two pays it off.
