Episode Summary & Review

Summary

Picard and Data brave going into an asteroid field when a new torpedo’s guidance system malfunctions. Meanwhile, the crew begin to act strangely.

Our Take

A goofy body-horror riff that leans fully into its monster-movie energy, and it mostly gets away with it. Gates McFadden directs with real enthusiasm and the creature effects are better than they have any right to be, though the technobabble rescue plot drags whenever the action cuts away from the ship. Worth it for the spectacle, just don’t expect the sci-fi to hold up under any scrutiny.
