Summary
Upon investigating a newly discovered Class M planet, the crew are knocked unconscious. Data claims that they had only lost 30 seconds, but the crew begin to discover clues that Data may be lying about more than just that small detail.
Our Take
A rare TNG mystery where the whole crew gets to play detective, and the puzzle box holds up surprisingly well on rewatch. Spiner sells Data’s evasiveness without tipping his hand too early, and the escalating paranoia gives Frakes and Stewart some fun material. The ending lands because it’s clever rather than flashy. A tight, satisfying hour that earns its reputation.
