Summary

Superman and Supergirl must save Smallville, and the world, from the Reverend, a gargantuan scouting probe disguised as a human reverend named Powell, as well as its master, an even larger alien parasite that wishes to unite Earth’s inhabitants in perpetual unity.

Our Take

A solid creepy-body-horror hour that leans harder into sci-fi than most episodes of this show, and the possessed Smallville townsfolk give it an unsettling edge. Supergirl getting real spotlight alongside Superman is a nice change of pace, though the giant parasite climax turns goofy fast. Worth a watch for the atmosphere alone, even if the ending is pure monster-movie silliness.
