Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Gangster Bruno Mannheim is running into problems with the mysterious Toyman, who uses children’s toys and games to cause violence. After being abducted by Toyman, Lois learns his motivation — his father had taken a loan from Mannheim and been set up to take the fall when the police busted one of Mannheim’s criminal enterprises.
Our Take
Toyman should be a genuinely creepy villain, and the design mostly is, but this episode never figures out what to do with him beyond a few gimmicky set pieces. The revenge backstory is rushed and Mannheim barely registers as a threat. It moves fast enough and Lois gets decent moments, though it’s a middling hour you can skip without missing much.
