From the Scavengers Reign creators: a conspiracy thriller about a mushroom, a blue fungus that can regrow tissue and cure disease, and the pharmaceutical machine that will burn the world to keep it off the market. Marshall (Dave King), the mycologist hiding with the cure, becomes the most wanted man alive; two DEA agents (and the…, the…, a pharma executive (their…, the show’s antagonist layer is written with real sympathy: the people killing the cure believe they’re saving the system that saves lives) chase him across a beautifully rendered America.
The absurdist comedy (the corporate speak villainy, the…, the mycology nerd authenticity, and the…, balances the paranoia thriller, and the animation carries the same organic awe sensibility that made Scavengers special. The best new adult animation of the year.
Verdict: Watch it. A thriller about who owns the cure, gorgeous, funny, and furious.
